The Board considers that the following should be made known to members who wish to propose or second applicants for membership and the applicants.

  1. The administrative procedures involved in the election of an applicant to membership are as follows:

The completed application form and the letters of support from the proposer and seconder are lodged with the Secretary. Each is date stamped on receipt. Letters of support should be addressed to the "Chairman, Election Committee" and marked "Confidential".

The application and letters of support are assessed by the Election Committee or by the Women's Committee, the applicant is interviewed and the applicant's name is placed on a List for Election which is made available to all members of the Club.

Provided the applicant meets with the approval of members, the applicant's name is submitted to the Board and, if approved, the applicant is elected to membership of the Club or placed on a waiting list.

  2. Before an applicant is elected the Board must be satisfied that the applicant is in all respects likely to be accepted without reservation by members. The proposer and seconder therefore have a very important responsibility to the Club. They must ensure that the applicant has all the necessary attributes of character and personality. The proposer and seconder should not be swayed by any consideration of business, political or personal obligation.

  3. An applicant who knows no member must supply two written references from members of other golf clubs or from people of standing in the community, addressed as in 1 above.

  4. The proposer, seconder or referees should know the applicant well and should be able to speak with some assurances as the applicant's suitability for membership. The Board expects the proposer, seconder or referees to comment on the applicant's character and personality and to make a recommendation concerning the application.

  5. The proposer and seconder should not be closely related to each other, nor to the applicant.

  6. The proposer and seconder should have been members of this Club for a reasonable time.

  7. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the proposer and seconder or the referees provide the Club with letters of support or references. An application cannot be processed until all three documents (the application and two letters of support or two references) are received.

  8. The categories of membership an applicant may seek are as follows :

    • 7 Day Member
    • 6 Day Member
    • 5 Day Member
    • Junior
    • Cadet
    • House

NOTE:
There is a limit on the total number of members in the 7 Day category. When this limit has been reached, applicants may be offered membership in a waiting list category termed 7 Day Reserve, which has the same playing rights as those of 7 Day Members except for delayed entry into Saturday competitions.
